The Just Transition Commission’s held their first meeting on 11 December 2024.

Just Transition Commissioners were appointed on 22 October by the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications with Government approval.

Secretariat presentations provided an introduction and insight into just transition policy and the planned working of the Commission.

Minister Eamon Ryan attended the meeting and underlined that justice must be central to Ireland’s climate transition. Members discussed the Commission’s proposed work programme and agreed to strike a balance between near‑term and longer‑term priorities, to develop a strong communications strategy, to ensure diverse perspectives are heard, and to consider holding meetings outside Dublin.
